The year 2002 brought the members of Swissvale Fire Fighters Local 1680 into a new type of fight. This fight is very important for many children and adults. This fight is against neuromuscular disease. The members of Local 1680 may be just getting into the fight but between the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Muscular Dystrophy Association the fight has been going on since 1954. The members of Local 1680 gladly enter into this endeavor by assisting in raising money for the researchers to find a cure and treatments for neuromuscular disease. The money raised is not only for research but is also to assist families with the equipment needed to support their family member that has one of the many forms of neuromuscular disease. Local 1680 would like to thank everybody who has donated to the MDA.
Due to the efforts of multiple Fill the Boot days and also with the help of some of our local businesses the Swissvale Fire Fighters Local 1680 were able to raise $10,570.03 for MDA for the year 2011. The fill-the-boot fund raiser was performed at South Braddock Avenue at Cheyenne Street in Swissvale.
The members of Local 1680 are looking forward to starting the 2012 fund raising year. All the members are confident that we will be able to beat your 2011 fund raising efforts.
